I love being an Aunty, too. This is my nephew Aidan. He's Trouble with a capital T. I love him. And my newer nephew Damian. He's the most well-behaved baby in the world. My sister has these amazingly good babies. It's uncanny. Aidan came out of his shell later, though... he's wild now!
Aidan loves his cousins. As soon as he sees them he says "LIJAH LIVIA HUGS".
This picture is just a sigh of happiness for me. People sometimes worry that they won't be able to love more kids. What they don't know is that not only with they be able to love their new babies as much as their older ones, but also their older ones will love their new ones. Love really does multiply.
Oh Em Gee, Julius is asleep and I actually have five minutes at the computer. Wow.
I do want to say sorry for not blogging and being a poor correspondent. I have my arms full, literally. Also Lee has been hogging the computer when he's home. He works in the evenings, which are Julius's fussiest times...
Julius is discovering his fingers. He is starting to brush things to try and get them to move. He also bats us to say hi or just to see if we are still there. It's precious, obviously.
One of the neighborhood kids was asking Boo about school:
"Where will you go to kindergarten? Elmwood?"
"No, I'm going to school at my home."
"Is that a school?" The little boy looked quizically over at our trailer.
Elijah looked to me for support. I just smiled at him and nodded.
"Yes... we are going to school at our home so we can learn about Jesus."
Awwwww. :)
We just got back from a big family wedding between Lee's second cousin Mel and her new husband Keith. They are lovable people. It was such a wonderful time. I was thinking how sad it was that our family has such a shortage of cousins so we have no weddings and such to go to on the Beaver side. Then I realized that we are only one generation shy of being the most rocking extended family ever conceived of. Can you imagine the plethora of weddings coming in the next fifty years??
Big families are really one of God's more clever inventions.
My children, especially Olivia, stayed on the dance floor for almost the whole shindig. Dancing is a culture that I did not grow up with, but I think I am glad that my kids are growing up with it. They will have the Beaver homeschooling and the Bostwick dancing, isn't that beautiful? Making one family out of the offshoots of two, that's another one of God's more clever inventions.
Olivia is so, so beautiful when she dances. I don't have time to play catch up, so I leave you with a song that always makes me think of her, and thought of her particularly today when she was brave enough to get her butt out on the floor and dance with all the big kids and grown ups. Olivia Nanette, I hope you always choose to dance!
Staples is beginning their Back to School loss leaders. You can get two packs of 8 pencils for one cent each. You can also get 10 paper folders for ten cents. You can buy 4 1-inch floppy three ring binders (no pockets) for a quarter apiece. You can't buy more than the established amount in one trip, though you could make multiple trips or split the family up if you need more.
Toys R Us is having an excellent sale on Crayola this week. Now their prices are usually pretty marked up so you wouldn't buy school supplies their regularly. They have buy one get one free on crayons - a 64-color box is $4.19, much too high normally, but $2.10 a box is a fine price. Someone else is running the boxes four $2.00 but that's not that much better. The real killer deal is colored pencils - they are buy one box get TWO boxes free. You can get a 12-pack for $2.50 or a 24-pack for $4.50. So you can get three 24-packs for $4.50. You can't beat that for name brand.
Finally, Big Lots has boxes of Fruit Loops for $1.00. They are "Fruit Loop Smoothie" - hey have an extra yogurt flavored loops. They are brand name and quite yummy. You can't beat a dollar a box. They also have Yogos in several flavors for $1.00 a box, Diego fruit snacks for a dollar, and name brand Pop Tarts in unusual flavors (like chocolate mint and island berry) for $1.20 for a small box and $2.00 for a large box. That's about the same as a store brand on sale at the grocery store, and the pop tarts brand has a much better flavor in the pastry.
