Saturday

I got up early and did the dishes from last night. Usually I don't leave the dishes overnight, but I had a lazy night last night. The landlord was over and he saw me in the window, so he called me out to tell me he is going to be painting all the porches this week - because he is on vacation. Haha. His mother gets our rent money but he buys the paint out of his own pocket. I guess it beats paying for a nursing home. I like the family we rent from. They are hard sometimes, but they always mean well. Then I showed him all the places where I planted so that he wouldn't put a weedwhacker to my sunflowers.

I went to work to open the store and took some pictures of the merchandise. We are going to start e-mail advertising very soon, and guess who's in charge of that.

Then when I got home, I watered everything with the fancy plant food waterer thingy Lee bought me. So far everything growing well except the Roma tomatoes - having a bad year there for some reason. I feel good about the sunflowers, though. I will have something really pretty this year, yay! The zukes just today popped their heads out of the ground.

After that, Lee took me out for a Mother's Day dinner at the Philly Steak & Cheese place. It's still my favorite place to eat in the whole world. I have some memories left over of Daddy taking me to eat there when I was a little girl, after I spent a few hours in his office with him. Thanks for the meal, Lee! Then when I got home, the kids and I took a bike ride over to the New Cumberland library. We like to play with the toys there, and it is a great chance for me to sit and read. The kids now listen very well. They are library trained :) With all that running around, Livvy has not had one accident, yay!!

I feel physically tired from the bike ride and that is a good thing!! I have put on just a few pounds from last year at this time - my shorts are a little tight - and I want them gone by the end of the summer. I am not keeping a scale. I don't think that is an unreasonable goal. I will really enjoy the bike riding and I will try to drink more water, especially while riding the bike. I am not keeping a scale because I love myself too much to think about numbers for now. Just being healthy - feeling good, and being able to do what I want without being a slave to my body - is my goal.

Rachel, sounds like you had a great day today! Good for you for getting rid of the scale. We got rid of ours a couple of years ago. I despise going to the doctor's office and getting weighed. I always feel fine about myself til I see the numbers. I figure young girls and women in society have a difficult time as it is without being tied to some meaningless numbers on a scale. I think it's a much healthier attitude to go by how you feel physically, mentally and spiritually.
